Father Riwa enjoyed participating in Halloween trick or treat with Kevin Ozar and his daughters, Kate and Lily. In addition to dressing up in a gorilla suit, gathering candy to take to the children in the Children’s Village, Father was most impressed to learn the origin of Halloween, people dressing up in scary costumes on the eve of All Saints’ Day in an effort to chase away the evil spirits before celebrating the feast.

Cathy Nordby Martin and Gerard Martin who visited The Children’s Village in Kenya in January 2010 had a great idea for a fundraiser for the St Clare girls. They held a Halloween costume party requesting guests forgo the usual hostess gifts of bottles of wine or flowers and instead offer a donation for Friends of Kenyan Orphans.
Some very prestigious guests were attendance: pictured here are Princess Grace of Monaco and Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz.
Guests enjoyed a fun evening and St. Clare girls received a generous donation from party attendees.

THE FRIENDS OF KENYAN ORPHANS is a nonprofit organization formed to assist The Children’s Village in improving the lives of these children.
The Children’s Village is the inspiration of Fr. Francis Limo Riwa who in 1999 began to rescue orphaned and abandoned street children. Today the Children’s Village is home, family and school to more than 750 children, living on two campuses: the St. Clare Girls’ Centre and St. Francis Boys’ Home.
