AND THE WINNERS ARE

St. Clare girls warming up before the Music Festival

Recently St. Clare Centre for Girls participated in the area musical competitions.  St. Clare has been abuzz over how the primary grades and the secondary grades both took overall first place in the area Music Festival. Winning 6 of the 9 events, the secondary girls of St. Clare are so proud.  Soon they will head up to Nkubu for the county competition, which gets harder as they move up the ladder.

St. Clare girls before the judges

Reporting first hand is Agnes who shares the following:

St. Clare Centre for Girls is a home to many TALENTS, one of which is dancing.  During this year’s music festival, we amazed the community with our magnificent dance moves.  The judges were left tongue tied over how we moved so rhythmically as we followed the drum beats perfectly.  We scooped up nearly all the first place victories in the dancing.  We did the famous Congo tune, “Zilizopendwa” which means “liked ones.”

Pre competition warm ups

In addition to our dances, we did moving poems too.  One we did was titled “Uzalendo,” which means “patriotism.”  We actually scored higher points with “Uzalendo” because it bases its verses on how Kenyan culture is beautiful with all the 42 tribes being as one.
