MEET FATHER GACIATA AND SHALOM SCHOOL

Father Francis Gaciata with one of his children at Shalom School

In March of 2016 members of Friends of Kenyan Orphans board visited Father Francis Gaciata at his parish in Kenya. During the on-site visit, the visiting board members determined that Father Gaciata is a dedicated priest whose mission of rescuing children is worthy of our support. In addition this mission meets the accountability and sustainability criteria established by Friends of Kenyan Orphans. Father requested assistance from Friends of Kenyan Orphans (FOKO) to build a dormitory, which would allow him to rescue another, 100 orphaned and abandoned children.

Friends of Kenyan Orphans told Father Gaciata we would assist him if he could find other donor partners and complete the project. An Italian non-profit organization in Trentino has stepped forward and will partner with FOKO to build the dormitory.

FOKO is proud to be part of this life saving work. In an upcoming article, we will focus on Father Gaciata and this mission of love.
