AMAZING ASSEMBLIES

{Over the next few weeks, we will be featuring information about St. Clare Centre for Girls written by girls who are members of the photojournalism class.  (Sister Kathryn, an Adrian Dominican, began this class when she was at St. Clare.  Mr. Bud has revived the class and has been working with the aspiring photojournalists as they have been taking photos and developing their stories.)  These posts include stories and photos from the members of this class.}

Older girls leading an assembly

At St. Clare Centre for Girls, assemblies are formal gatherings attended by staff and students. At the assemblies we discuss current issues and also have some routine activities such as speeches . We hold assemblies twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays we use English, while on Fridays we use Swahili. During assembly time, we sing, read the Bible, discuss the news and pray. We also get useful instructions from our teachers and student leaders.

We like assemblies because we learn about a lot of things that are happening especially when the assembly is on the news. Because of assemblies we are also encouraged and motivated by our teachers about life.
