Higher Education Sponsorship Program

Did you know that women in Kenya with even one year of post‑secondary (higher) education can expect to earn about 38% more than women without any higher education?
What is FoKO’s Higher Education Sponsorship Program? The Higher Education Sponsorship Program matches sponsors with a female student attending a post-secondary program in Kenya.
What is my commitment? $1,200. This can be paid in monthly or quarterly installments, or as a one-time gift.
What does it cover? Tuition, food, housing, and other essential fees for one student during a school year.
How will it work? Your sponsored student will send an introductory email and provide updates on their progress throughout their education. These emails will be shared with you via our Higher Education Coordinator.
Do all higher education students attend four year universities? No. Some students attend certification programs, or associate programs. Others choose 3-4 year university programs.
Can $1,200 really cover higher education for a year? Yes! In Kenya, university programs typically cost between $1,500 and $5,000, while certification and associate programs are more affordable. This makes the average cost of sponsorship approximately $1,200 per year.
Can I communicate with my sponsored student? Yes, you are welcome to communicate with your sponsored student via email, though it is not required. All emails will be routed through our Higher Education Coordinator, who will ensure they are forwarded to your student.
*Once payment has been made, our higher education coordinator will reach out to you via email.
