FOKO Rescues Recent St. Clare Grads from Unsafe Living Conditions

With the spread of COVID-19 in Kenya, schools and universities have closed, and Nairobi has gone into lockdown. Several recent St. Clare graduates had no other option but to take shelter in the Mathare slums with extended family. As you can imagine, the living conditions there are not healthy, as there is no access to running water or plumbing, and social distancing is not at all possible.

We have shepherded these girls since they were just toddlers, and felt a real concern for their safety. After several days of reaching out to every contact they could think of, Fr. Riwa and Bud Ozar were able to locate a guest house and bring the girls to safety.

Because of your generous donations, Friends of Kenyan Orphans is able to cover the room and board for these girls for several months. Thank you!
