As the girls at St. Clare graduate or grow, they outgrow both their school and exercise uniforms. Mercy, the head matron, collects these uniforms, washes and stores them. When the storeroom is full, she brings the clothing out during morning break. The girls look for clothing that fits them; if one girl rejects an item, another girl can take it. During the 20 minutes break, the pile diminishes as the girls head to put their newfound clothing in their dorm room.
