The most recent post related how many of the older girls at St. Clare Centre for Girls attended a retreat called Inner Healing. Girls from classes 8 through form 4 (seniors) all walked down the muddy road to the bus, which took them to this event.

The girls truly experienced so many positive things from this retreat made possible by Friends of Kenyan Orphans. Members of various classes wrote thank you notes talking about the retreat and expressing their gratitude. What follows are some of the comments made in these notes.

One of the girls in class 8 writes, “ Thank you for sponsoring us to go to the retreat centre. Many of us were touched, healed and blessed. The retreat team members were so welcoming, kind and taught us many spiritual things. The priest there taught us more about God.”

Class 8 at Inner Healing

From a form 1 girl, we read, “Because the team members were so kind and prayerful, it motivated us with prayers.   We felt like we were approaching heaven during adoration times because the main teachings were about forgiving and mercy from the Lord. We learned these are needed in order to receive healing and graces. We pray that Almighty God will continue showering blessings on you for helping us feel such powerful changes.”

Member of form 4 on retreat

An upper-class girl says, “The priests there taught us many things that brought us close to God. Since we have been brought up in the Catholic faith, this has helped us increase our faith to learn more and to help others. We appreciate you for giving us a chance to attend this retreat.”

Form 3 at the retreat

And one of the seniors shares the following; “The retreat that you made possible for us to attend was in Thika at a holy place. We felt being there allowed us to be showered with blessings and graces. We learned new worship and songs and even new methods of praying. Above all, we prayed for you and asked God to protect you.”
