DID YOU KNOW?

The students at St. Clare Centre for Girls know three languages.

Students working on writing in English

When they arrive at St. Clare, the girls speak their tribal “mother tongue.”  Immediately students begin both Kiswahili (Swahili) and English lessons.  This includes “baby classes” for the youngest girls.  Very quickly all lessons are taught in English (which Swahili being the only exception).

A Kiswahili lesson

In their English classes, the students read English literature.  In addition they have extensive grammar and composition instruction.  Finally, spoken English is practiced each day!

Just another amazing fact about our St Clare students…
