MIGHTY MAIZE

After months of waiting, it is finally harvest time. The long rains end in December and while the ground is still soft maize seeds are planted and then Kenyans wait for the sun, and good weather to bring the maize for harvest. Work is one of the four pillars at St. Clare and here the older girls are busy bringing in the maize. It will be the main staple in their diet for the many months ahead.
