Second grade teacher at Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School in Beachwood, Ohio, Christine Catalogna, has been leading a multicultural program with her students. The children have been studying various cultures around the world. Kenya is one of their focus countries.  To develop a sense of “Repairing the World,” each grade is taking on a community service project.

Christine’s students decided to support Friends of Kenyan Orphans in their "Repairing the World” effort.  They held a raffle charging $1 per ticket. These second grade children raised $104 on raffle night.  Christine reports that the children promoted the project, sold tickets, even worked the cash register and were very proud of the success of the raffle.

Asante sana (thank you very much) to Christine and her industrious second grade class.
