During their visit to St. Clare Centre for Girls in February 2014, Bud Ozar and Rich Horrigan spent time seeing the tilapia ponds and other fishponds Father Riwa has developed with Friends of Kenyan Orphans’ support.Â
In early February, Bud and Sue Ozar delivered some important papers to Madam Sarah, the administrator at St. Clare Centre for Girls.
The population of St. Clare has grown to over 300 students, we need to expand to a larger library space. Our Dominican Sisters, as well as many well-wishers, believe that St. Clare Centre should have a spacious library where the girls can sharpen their reading skills.
In realizing that he needed to be more self-sufficient and raise more food at the Children’s Village, Father built two tilapia fishponds to add protein rich fish into the diets of the children at least once a week.
The seven year drought has impacted the 800+ children at the Children’s Village.  Fr. Riwa has coped by planting all available space to increase the food they raise.Â
